Day 12 of 30 Titles in December A Mother's Love

A Mother's Love followed Words of Love in the summer of 2012. I guess you can say, I was jamming as I got the hang of writing novellas. This final story in the Making Love Work anthology was my favorite, since I like to write about realistic situations. A young teenage mother, who later surrendered to Christ, tugged at my heartstrings. Image a young woman who was about to become a mother of the bride and never had been a bride herself. Just when she thought she was about to experience the dreaded empty nest syndrome, God sends her another love. If you haven't read it, get it today. Don't forget to download A NOELLE FOR NATHAN to keep you in the Christmas spirit.

Day 11 of 30 Titles in December Words of Love

 Words of Love
What woman, or anyone for that matter, wouldn't be flattered to receive a love letter? In Words of Love, I continued the Making Love Work theme anthology a month after Love at Work was released. The short story was previously published in 2004 from an anthology with Parry EbonySatin Brown and Lisa Watson. Not only had my writing developed since I first penned the story, I had to update Words of Love with the modern perks, such as cell phones and satellite radio.
Image in this age of tech savvy folks where private information isn't private and a person can dig up dirt on anybody, especially a media personality like Simone French. Can Rice Taylor resist the temptation to use social media to learn everything he can about Simone, or will he reply on the power of images created from words written in a love letter? After all, sometimes, love is blind.
I was honored that author Parry EbonySatin Brown took interest in my work back in 2003. After you finish this quick read, why not download my 2015 Christmas story described as heartwarming: A NOELLE FOR NATHAN

Day 10 of 30 Titles in December Love at Work

 Love at Work
After the success of my first novella, Her Dress, I decided to create a novella series based on a theme rather than a cast of ongoing characters. In February 2012, Love at Work was the first novella released in Making Love Work, an anthology about people finding love against the odds. For ten years, I worked in a busy television newsroom. When it came to breaking news, our reporters were like cats chasing dogs--not the other way around. Haven't you seen the video of dogs terrorized of cats? LOL. In a news station, it was the norm for everybody to know everybody's business, whether they wanted to share it or not, so I couldn't resist planting an undercover romance in their midst. Meet Desiree who wants no part of an office romance, but Brooke is putting his investigative skills to the test to expose the secrets of her heart. Then get in the Christmas spirit with A NOELLE FOR NATHAN.

Day 9 of 30 Titles in December Her Dress

 Her Dress
Let me back track for a minute to August 11, 2011. It was a day to celebrate a new milestone in my writing career with the release of my first of what would become many novellas--Her Dress. As a novelist, I could pack a book with hundreds of pages of drama, inspiration and colorful characters, but Her Dress was my first shot at something short and sweet. Plus, I couldn't take the Jamiesons along for the ride. I pondered what scenario would engage readers in one-third or half the number of pages. Fashionistas came to mind. Imagine the priceless reaction when Pepper Trudeau sees another woman wearing the same dress at a gala. With a witty story line, I tested the waters to see if I could write a beginning, middle, and satisfying conclusion in seventy-five pages or less. The readers were my judges, and thirty plus titles later, I think I did all right. :) This is your only chance to meet Pepper and Drake, so download it today. After you finish, grab your copy of my Christmas novella A NOELLE FOR NATHAN today and enjoy.

Day 8 of 30 Titles in December Free From Guilt

 FREE FROM GUILT

Free From Guilt was released in September 2012, months following The Guilt Trip. I never planned to tell Cameron Jamieson's story when I first wrote Guilty of Love. In fact, I hadn't planned a series, only my debut novel, Guilty of Love and its sequel Not Guilty of Love: Parke VI and his brother Malcolm. Cameron Jamieson was away in Boston and therefore, out of sight, out of my mind. But folks wanted his story, so after I presented the bad boys of Boston, Kidd and Ace, Cameron took center stage. Also, my publisher at the time, Moody Publishers, moved the release date up by six months. Talk about freaking out, that was me. The Guilty series/Jamieson Legacy is a special brand filled with genealogy tidbits that takes time to research. Praise God for my friend and freelance editor Chandra Sparks Splond who held my hand to meet the deadline. It was one of the shortest Guilty books I had written, and I prayed that I made the Lord proud with well-placed Scripture and African American history. Once it was released, I received positive feedback from the deacon at church who met me at the door to the readers. Wow. I thought the Guilty series had come to a close with the Parke, Malcolm, and Cameron, plus their cousins Kidd and Ace. Not so, according to the readers, because their legacy continues...

Day 7 of 30 Titles in December The Guilt Trip

 The Guilt Trip
The Guilt Trip followed Guilty by Association months later in 2012. While Kidd was angry, Ace was the pretty boy who shunned responsibility, especially when it came to love. Of the three books in the series, this was a favorite, because it showed a family coming together to do what was right and not back up a wrongdoing relative. One white reviewer compared it to a white Amish story. Also, Kidd and Ace's mother, Sandra Nicholson, had a greater role in this son's life. She was the epitome of a Christian woman--something that I strive for everyday. I didn't know how the Lord was going to wrap up the ending. All the characters tugged at my heart, but I knew God had a blessing for Sandra, so her happiness came a few years later.I was able to give Sandra her own story in THE CONFESSION. More about her story later this month. Don't forget about my Christmas release A NOELLE FOR NATHAN. Enjoy.

Day 6 of 30 Titles in December Guilty by Association

 Guilty by Association
Guilty by Association was published in January 2012 by Lift E'very Voice/Moody Publishers. The Guilty series had become the Jamieson Legacy, and Guilty by Association was Book I in the spin off series. The story idea came while I was perusing the 1860 Mississippi Morbidity Book. Slaves who didn't have a surname at the time of their deaths, either as a freed black or that of the slaveholder, were buried with their first names followed  by the word "negro".  I created Kidd Jamieson who despised his last name, because he didn't have a father in the home and thus, didn't want to carry the Jamieson surname. It's a story that is relevant today with so many young boys, being reared by single mothers who may or may not carry their father's name. Despite his rough exterior, Kidd falls hard for Miss Eva Savoy who knows how to take him down with her sass and class. Meet one of the bad boys of Boston. Kidd soon learns it's not the name who makes the man, but the man who makes his own name. Don't forget A NOELLE FOR NATHAN is my current title.
